Counselors

There are four counselors (2 per city--32 in all) for each of the eight assistant deans (8 counties).  The counselors are with the citizens of their respective cities 24/7 and assist the ADs.  They are the first line of defense for their delegates and hold city meetings that help further the curriculum and instruction process and assure that the citizens follow the daily schedule.

Last year, Jace McMullin doubled as an Assistant Band Director and counselor for the band city.  Jace came to the program as a delegate in 2005 and returned as a counselor two years later, in 2007.  Jace is studying music education at Mississippi State University.  He graduated from Griffith High School. 2009 will be his third year as a counselor.

 

 

Jon Bush is a graduate of Vincennes Lincoln HS and is currently working on a degree in pre-med biology and chemistry at Franklin College.  He was a delegate at HBS in 2005.  In 2007, Jon came to us as a counselor. 2009 will be his third year with HBS.

 

 

 

(photo in progress)     Chuck Progar started his tenure with Hoosier Boys' State in 1968 as a counselor.  He is a resident of Highland in Northern Indiana.  He is now a retired educator and returns to our program after a few years' hiatus.

 From Forest Park HS and Purdue University where he is majoring in computer graphics technology, Tyler Foerster will be a counselor with three-years' experience at HBS this year

 

 

 

(photo in progress)     Daniel Domsic finished up his senior year at Griffith HS this year (2008).  He returns to HbS after serving as a junior counselor in 2008. He was a delegate to Boys State last year (2007).

 Ed Gibson III, from Lewis Cass HS, will be back this year as a counselor for HBS for his third year.  Ed works for Global Testing Services and is currently working on a degree in secondary education and English at Indiana University at Kokomo.

 

 

 

(photo in progress)     Karl Goodman returns this year as a third year counselor having been a delegate in 2006.  Karl is from South Vermillion HS.  He is presently studying for a degree in calculus and physics at Indiana State University.

(photo in progress)     Brandon Haenny is a veteran counselor at HBS returning for his seventh year in the program--he was a delegate in 2000.  Last year, Brandon taught history and Spanish (7-12) at St. Joseph's Academy in Michigan. He is presently in Seminary studying for the priesthood.  Brandon graduated form Highland HS and has a BA in international studies and a BA in modern cultures, both from Virginia Military Institute.

Cary Hudson returns as a veteran counselor for HBS.  Cary was a delegate in 1990 and returned the following year as a junior counselor.  After a brief hiatus while living and working in Georgia, he will now be serving Boys State for his fourteenth year.  Cary is an accounting manager in his own firm and formerly working for Arby's Restaurant Group.  He graduated from Muncie Central HS.  He has a BS in history and political science from Ball State and a MPA from IUPUI.

 

(photo in progress)     Peter Hunter comes to us from Tulane University.  He attended North Cental HS (Indianapolis) and was an HBS delegate in 2006.  2009 will be his second year as a counselor here.

(photo in progress)     David Jordan returns for his third year as a counselor--2009.  David was a delegate in 2005 and graduated from North Central HS (Farmersburg).  He works as a sales associate for Shirwin-Williams.  David attends Indiana State University where he is majoring in physical education.

(photo in progress)     Justin Kingsolver graduated from Hamilton Southeastern HS in 2008.  Justin served as a junior counselor last summer--2008.  As a delegate in 2007 Justin was elected as the outstanding citizen and HBS representative to Boys Nation where he was elected to the position of Vice President.  Presently he is working for the Hamilton County Republican Party as an office assistant.

Jaycob Knazur will be a fourth year counselor for HBS this year--2009.  He graduated from Andrean HS and is currently working on a degree in political science and history at Valparaiso University.  Jaycob was a delegate in 2004.

 

 

 

 

(photo in progress)     Geoff Koleff also graduated from Andrean HS and was a delegate in 2004.  Geoff will be a second-year counselor this year--2008.  He is attending Purdue University.

(photo in progress)     Brandon Krause is a veteran counselor returning for his sixth year.  He was a delegate in 2001 and graduated from George Rogers Clark HS the following year.  Brandon is a part-time traffic producer for Clear Channel.  Currently, he is seeking a degree in communications with emphas on PR at Purdue University and Calumet College at St. Joseph College in Northwestern Indiana.

(photo in progress)     William Liesch came to HBS in 2007 as an observer and "gopher."  He's back again this year 2009 as a "full-blown" counselor with two years under his belt no more a rookie.  Bill's son, Rob, was a delegate in 2005 and a counselor in 2007.  Bill hails from Bishop Noll HS.  He is a Sennior Field Engineer for Northrop Grumman Information and an alumnus of Ball State University & Purdue Calumet.

(photo in progress)     Rob Liesch is returning for his third year as a counselor 2009.  Rob is a Team Memger with Best Buy.  He attends Ivy Tech Community College where he is majoring in criminal justice.  Rob graduated from Portage HS.
