Hoosier Boys State invites not only students from all across Indiana to participate in this Week to Shape a Lifetime, it also presents to their parents and other responsible adults the opportunity to examine the quality of staff that makes the program work.
The screening of staff applicants includes but is not limited to requiring the candidates to be recommended by a current staff person, but too, an affirmation that the signator has not been convicted of a criminal act.
Each of the executive officers have been in education for thirty (30) years or longer as teachers, administrators, a member of a school board, etc. Each has twenty-nine (29) or more years with HBS--counselors and assistant deans. Each has two (2) or more college degrees. Over eighty percent (80%) of the HBS staff are former delegates whether as counselors or assistant deans.
American Legion enrollment chairmen at both the local post level and the regional or district level are volunteer workers and military veterans. They are dedicated to this program and work hard with representatives of the high schools in their respective areas toward selecting the quality of student deserving of the HBS effort. We are all very proud of our program and the product and services it produces.
